Coverage Explorer
Your Motorcycle
Riding the Lowcountry’s back roads and coastal highways is its own kind of freedom — and its own kind of risk. Explore the bike below to see how coverage generally responds. General education, not a coverage determination — your GSP agent confirms your specific policy.

01
Liability
Injuries and damage you cause to othersThe risk
Injuries and damage you cause to others. If you cause a crash, you can be responsible for others’ injuries and property. South Carolina requires liability coverage to ride legally.
The coverage
Bodily injury & property damage liability. Liability coverage generally responds to others’ injuries and property damage when you’re at fault, up to your limits — and most riders carry more than the state minimum.
-
02
Collision
Laying the bike down or hitting somethingThe risk
Laying the bike down or hitting something. A motorcycle is exposed in any accident, and repairs add up quickly.
The coverage
Collision coverage (with a deductible). Collision generally pays to repair or replace your bike after a crash, minus your deductible — often required while financing.
-
03
Theft & Comprehensive
Theft, weather, fire, vandalismThe risk
Theft, weather, fire, vandalism. Motorcycles are stolen at higher rates than cars, and storms, fire, or vandalism can total a bike sitting still.
The coverage
Comprehensive (“other than collision”). Comprehensive generally covers non-crash losses like theft and weather, minus a deductible — important for a bike that’s easy to move and exposed outdoors.
-
04
Uninsured Motorist
A driver who can’t see you — and isn’t insuredThe risk
A driver who can’t see you — and isn’t insured. Riders are especially vulnerable to drivers who don’t look twice, and many of those drivers are uninsured or underinsured.
The coverage
Uninsured / underinsured motorist. South Carolina requires uninsured motorist coverage; it generally steps in for your injuries and damage when the at-fault driver can’t pay.

05
Gear & Custom Parts
Helmets, riding gear, custom chrome and exhaustThe risk
Helmets, riding gear, custom chrome and exhaust. Custom parts and riding gear can be worth thousands and may exceed a standard policy’s built-in limit.
The coverage
Accessories / custom parts & equipment. Optional coverage generally protects custom equipment and safety gear above the base limit — worth scheduling if you’ve invested in the bike.
